A P+C's x Black Country Type collaboration to protest against Birmingham City Councils proposed library cuts -  all profits to help save our libraries!

Hand pulled screen print on G F Smith Colorplan art paper. Size A3 (unframed). Open edition. Also available in Cobalt blue. Also available in sunshine tees!

Our artwork is based on BCT's photograph of an 80s sign on the front of Selly Oak library, which was closed by Birmingham Council in 2018 and has been left to ruin. The slogan is adapted from the Manic Street Preachers song 'A Design for Life'... LIBRARIES GIVE US POWER...so what can we do?

Under the Council's proposals, just 10 of 35 community libraries will remain open full time, with the remainder reduced to 2 days, closed entirely or handed to unfunded volunteer groups. Many parts of the city, including areas of high deprivation, will be without their community library for the first time in 140 years. This is a blueprint for social decline. WE SAY NO!

Final consultations are taking place in all local libraries this month - please show your support and turn up if you can - see below for dates. Please email your MP - tell them you don't agree. I have a template I can send you. Follow Birmingham Loves Libraries and get involved with their campaign. Once the libraries are gone, they're gone forever, so FIGHT!

All profits from this project go towards printing costs for Brum Library Zine - an incredible volunteer-led protest publication which will be available for free in all community libraries from 21st September.
